Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who all is included under a family subscription?

Anyone who lives in your home or who you are directly involved in the care of is included in a family subscription. This includes any adult child you may have away at college or aging parents/other relatives who may not live in your home.

  • Are there limits to how many people are on one family plan?

No, as long as the individuals on the plan are either living in your home or are being provided/cared for by you, they qualify as being part of your family plan. If your family grows after the start of your subscription (ex. new baby), just let me know, and I will add the new member to your file.

  • What if I don’t have a family or my family is not interested in this kind of plan? Can I still join?

    Absolutely!

  • What are your credentials for offering this kind of service?

I am a board-certified, licensed dietitian nutritionist (LDN) and classically trained herbalist based in Abingdon, Virginia. As part of my training, I obtained a Master’s degree in clinical nutrition, passed an exam with the Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists, and completed 1,000 hours of supervised practical experience with another licensed nutritionist. In order to keep my license and certifications active, I have to do 15 hours of continuing education yearly. I also maintain a subscription with the American Herbal Product Association’s Botanical Safety Handbook online database in order to stay up to date on the latest research concerning the safety of popular herbs.

  • A member of my family has a preexisting chronic health condition and is taking prescription medication. Can he/she still work with you?

Definitely. Nutrition therapy is beneficial to everyone regardless of preexisting health conditions, and there are many gentle herbs that are often safe and appropriate for use in conjunction with prescription medications. I am also experienced in nutrient-drug-supplement interactions, and can advise subscription members about the potential for these interactions, including any micronutrients that are at risk of depletion from prescription drug use.

  • Do you follow any particular philosophy or diet plan (ex. vegan or carnivore)? Can you work with me if I am following one of these plans?

I prioritize whole foods as much as possible and have eliminated some foods including wheat that I am sensitive to from my own diet, but I do not have a dogmatic stance about diet in general at all. I can absolutely work with you if you are following a particular style of eating and want to remain on that diet, but you do not have to make perfect food choices or give up your favorite treats to work with me!

  • What is it like to work with you?

I view my relationship with families as a partnership. I want any suggestions or remedies that we come up with to work with your individual family’s needs/budget/time/etc., so I encourage you to let me know if something is not working or just does not seem doable at the moment. Additionally, I do not typically recommend large changes all at once because small habit-forming changes are more sustainable over time for most people.

  • What if I don’t want to make any changes to my family’s diet? Can I still get a subscription if I just want herbal support?

You bet! Herbs are a fantastic resource that we can look at for any chronic or acute issues that arise in your family.

  • I am pregnant/breastfeeding. Can you work with me?

Yep. I am intimately familiar with the nutritional needs of pregnancy and breastfeeding, as well as what herbs can be safely used to support you during these life phases.

  • What is your cancellation policy in case I can no longer afford a subscription or I decide this is just not a good fit for my family?

Subscriptions renew automatically each month on your billing date. You can cancel or pause your plan anytime before your next billing date. Once payment has been processed, no refunds or partial refunds are available. You’ll continue to have full access to your plan and support until the end of your current billing period if you choose to cancel/pause. If you have any questions about cancelling or pausing your subscription, feel free to reach out to me directly!

  • Will my monthly fee ever go up?

Your monthly subscription fee will remain locked in to the price it was when you started your family plan, as long as you do not pause or cancel your subscription. If you need to take a break from your subscription and decide to come back at a later date, you will be charged the current monthly rate, which may increase over time as cost of living increases.

  • Are there any additional services that come with this subscription?

Yes! I am trained to look at standard and functional lab work through a nutritional lens, and that service is included in your membership. Additionally, I pass along the full discount available to me through Fullscript on any supplements that family subscription members may want to purchase. This usually amounts to somewhere around 35% off retail price. I also work with an herbal compounding pharmacy to create tea blend and tincture formulas for my clients, and these can be drop-shipped directly to you with no cost markup on my end.

  • Does this subscription take the place of primary medical care?

No. While nutrition and herbs can provide a great foundation for both acute and chronic health conditions, there are some situations where medical care is needed. I am happy to forward your family’s notes to your primary care provider in these situations, and I will always let you know if there is a health concern that makes me think you should seek medical help.
